Technician Management:

  • Field Training/Performance Management: Developing and tracking training programs, Productivity management, May be training hands on (depending on situation/skills of PM)
  • Safety Leadership: FLHA quality review, Leading by example, Having a voice, Investigation follow up (FLIR through to Investigation Report)
  • Understanding Morale/Behavior of Crews: Finger on the pulse/knowing your people, Managing morale, coaching and mentoring as a leader
  • Vehicle/Tool Management: Conveying expectations to field crews on how to treat vehicles/tools, Coordination of vehicle maintenance with Fleet Manager, Reinforcing DVIR quality, Coordinating equipment requirements for the field

Project Management Duties:

  • Quality Management: Understanding client specifications and quality software, Reviewing photos/field visits to check on work, Communicating changes in spec to technicians, Coordinating deficiency repairs/correcting quality issues with technicians
  • Scheduling/Forecasting/Tracking: Maintaining an internal Program Tracker, Participation in Ops huddles and 2-week lookaheads, Understanding/Managing Crew schedules (vacation, 21/10, 14/7, 5/2, etc)
  • Documentation/Invoice Preparation: Preparing/submitting As-builts and turnover packages, Document control (ensuring most up to date drawings/BOMs are used and available), Maintaining organized project files, Obtaining permits/traffic control, Ensuring accuracy of timesheets
  • Client Relations Management: Weekly meetings with client construction managers, Understanding client expectations (productivity, quality, safety, costs), Daily interactions with client superintendents
  • Material Coordination: Facilitation of material securement, Ensuring materials are being used appropriately, Ensuring proper stocks of client supplied and WPT supplied materials, Yard organization

Job Duties:

  • Place and pull various telecommunication cables including copper, coax, and fibre on both aerial and underground infrastructure. Enter telecommunication manholes for the purpose of installing telecommunication cables Install, remove, and transfer aerial telecom structure such as hydro poles, steel strands, lashing wire, fibre cable, etc.
  • Install telecom pedestals and vaults
  • Read and interpret telecom design prints and update based on progress, changes, and field findings
  • Drive and maneuver large vehicles/equipment such as bucket trucks, flat decks, and reel trailers in tight spaces and easement locations
  • Climb hydro and telecommunication poles using spurs with climbing belt, and ladders with harness
  • Maintain a driving log, keep a clean and organized vehicle, perform daily vehicle inspections, and participate in daily FLHAs
  • Perform other duties as requested

We are looking for a motivated and productivity-oriented Fibre Splicer to join our expanding team!

Job Duties:

  • Build fibre optic splice closures (FOSCs), prep, and splice OSP fibre cables into various FOSCs
  • Dress and mount aerial FOSCs and cables. This may involve using a bucket truck, ladder, or climbing telecommunication poles with spurs. Working heights range from 15-40ft
  • Dress and rack FOSCs and cables in pedestals, service boxes, vaults, and manholes
  • Use OTDR, OLTS, and Power Meters to test, analyze, and troubleshoot fibre networks
  • Read and interpret telecom design prints and update based on progress, changes, field findings
  • Safely drive and maneuver vehicles into tight spaces and easements.
  • Perform other duties as requested

  • Place new underground cables through pedestals and manholes, lashing up new aerial plant
  • Coax plant activation, cutting in taps, splitters, couplers and amplifiers (both aerial and underground)
  • Work on live plant doing rebuilds or upgrades, swapping out taps, splitters, couplers and amplifiers (both aerial and underground)
  • Work on live fibre optic nodes doing rebuilds or upgrades
  • Utilize technical tools such as Field Strength Meters, VOM
  • Read and interpret telecom design prints and update based on field findings
  • Perform other duties as requested

We are looking for a motivated Junior Field Technician to join our expanding team!

This is an entry level position within our company. Mentorship and training will be provided with the opportunity to advance to a piece-rate, Field Technician position (either as a Fibre Cable Placer, Fibre Splicer, or Coax Technician)

Job Duties:

  • Read and interpret maps (telecom design prints, google maps, google earth)
  • Locate and proof underground telecom conduits
  • Pump manholes
  • Pre-field jobs to assess readiness
  • Assist Cable Placers in the field which may include flaking cable, pulling cable and mule tape, rod and roping, tagging and foaming, ladder work, loading and offloading cable reel, and driving heavy machinery to work site
  • Assist Fibre Splicers in the field which may include locating and setting up fibre splice locations and power meter operation
  • Assist with shipping and receiving telecom equipment and supplies
  • Operate forklift to assist with loading and offloading cable reels
  • Assist mechanic with basic vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance
  • Organize and clean the shop/yard
  • Perform other duties as requested
